FOUND! Carroll County Estates, Annual Returns, Wills - NEVER INDEXED

Look what we found!
Carroll County, Georgia has a General Index of Estates, etc., however, Book B (1841-1853) was never included!  That is probably because the book itself was never indexed.  That means that genealogists have been relying on the General Index to determine if Georgia Pioneers
any of their ancestors left an estate in Carroll County.  This essential 500-page book is now indexed and every record digitized on
Members, go to the Library and click on "Wills, Estates", then "Carroll County". You will see a link to this book. That takes you to the names linking all of the records. After the removal of the Indians from Georgia, many families moved westward and settled in this locale, near the Alabama border.  Later on, part of Carroll County became Haralson County (Georgia Pioneers also has these probate records).  The period of 1841 to 1853 was a critical time because the western portion of the State was developing economically causing new families to be attracted, and, people were taking up their draws in the land lotteries.  This is not the first time that Georgia Pioneers has discovered unindexed books, digitized them and placed them on the website.  There are about 5 unindexed estates and wills in Jasper County which were never indexed.  To perform this process, we read and scan "each page" and create an index to each name, thus, a simple "click" gets you to the information.
