Woe the Day of the Court House Fires!

Sherman's Destruction of Atlanta
Most people do not realize how difficult it is to prepare images for the internet.  Especially old images from the earliest documents.  Many of the court houses in Georgia suffered from fires and lost records.  During the War Between the States, General Sherman ravaged the State, taking animals, foodstuffs and other valuables from local people, while burning court houses.  That equates into a disastrous event for those of us who are so desperately searching for our ancestors! We have to work around it by searching for other collections, like old church registers, newspapers and bible records such as you will find on Georgia Pioneers
