Digital Images of McIntosh County, Georgia Wills

People resided in McIntosh County from ca 1735 when Oglethorpe brought a vessel of Scotsmen from Inverness. And especially after General Oglethorpe took his regiment back to England (1744) and the town surrounding Fort Frederica was left to fend for itself. Without the regiment, the economy was severely affected and settlers moved away, into the counties now known as Liberty, McIntosh and Glynn. You cannot discover the earliest records in McIntosh County without examining Candler's Colonial Records of Georgia.
In fact, you really need to examine the records of these three counties for information concerning the settlements south of Savannah. We made filmed many of the old loose estates in Glynn, Liberty and McIntosh Counties. The records burned in McIntosh.
