Indexes to County Records

The indexes to all of the county records are essential tools to locating your ancestors in the records. It is important to search all of the indexes for estates, deeds, tax digests, minutes etc. to make certain that your ancestor was or was not there. When you do this, you can remember that you scrubbed off all of the county records before going on to other sources. There are simply tons of records at the court house. For example, while searching probate records, don't forget the letters of guardianship, letters of administration, letters of testamentary, sales, inventories, annual returns and vouchers. Everything inside the Probate Office. To help the researcher, Georgia Pioneers is adding these county indexes. Once you find a reference and page number, you can order the document from the clerk of the local county court house. Also, many will and estate images are already online.
